| Description | Grotto of Moses underneath the mosque on the peak of Jebel Musa. The character of the rock permits cleaner incisions than those in Wadi Leja. The photography of the site is difficult since the Beduin conduct ceremonies there on certain festivals and have burned incense which has blackened the rock. For a description of this custom, see S. Levi, Beduin Religion in South Sinai. A number of inscriptions are hidden behind the rocks of the steps on a wall at the entrance to the grotto. |
